Dental imperfections can steal your smile. Tarnished or chipped teeth are embarrassing to show to people. Those who have these imperfections lose the confidence to smile and make friends. As a result, they tend to lose opportunities in life, such as landing on corporate jobs. Good thing, cosmetic dentistry is there to help. A wide array of procedures can be performed to remedy these imperfections and bring back the smile in your face.

Discoloration or blemish is among the most common dental imperfections from which many people suffer. This is caused naturally by continuous eating and drinking. In some cases, negligence, such as excessive smoking and inappropriate use of high-concentration drugs can blemish the teeth. Previously, whitening or dental bleaching was considered as the only procedure that can treat all forms of blemishing. However, recent findings show that this is not the ideal procedure for select cases.

Congenitally yellowish and beige teeth are good examples of cases not treatable by in-office teeth whitening. Because the stain is spread through the inner layers of the teeth, bleaching on the outermost layer may not bring back the supposed deciduous whiteness. Dentists in large cities like Miami recommend using veneers as a better alternative to teeth whitening in the said cases.

Veneers are restorative materials used to cover the blemish of the teeth. They enhance the appearance of the teeth by replacing the outermost layer. Sometimes, veneers are mistaken for crowns, which are used to replace and enhance the look of an entire tooth. But Miami veneers are only used as laminates to the teeth. In other words, a recipient tooth does not have structural defect and the veneer is only used to case it through.

Miami veneers can be composite or porcelain. Composite veneers are relatively cheaper but perform as well as porcelain veneers do. In terms of aesthetics and permanence, porcelain veneers are better. The natural beauty of porcelain is comparable to that of a natural tooth. The glaze and smoothness are even enhanced.

Most Miami veneers are removable. But like modern dentures, there are also veneers that can be installed permanently on the teeth. When etched with hydrofluoric acid, porcelain veneer can combine with the teeth efficiently, taking its strength and improving the teeth’s function. Veneer may not only remedy teeth discoloration, but also a variety of imperfections, including chipping and cracks.
